Chapter 1: The vow of ice
“I’m tired of this silence! “
It is said that wounds of the heart can only be healed by time; but time alone is not the cure for a lonely heart. Well known is this by winter, when nature goes to sleep while the wind howls and spirals through the snow-covered woods and the landscape is painted in white, but no-body seems to appreciate its frozen beauty. Except for the winter bringer, the freezing wind himself: Jack Frost.
Ever since the spirit of winter was awaken from his cold-watered slumber, he was delighted and joyful while completing his given task, all thanks to the moon. It had been the moon who told him his name, and in his name was the basic essence of what he did: frost, his signature everywhere he went. It could have been better if it had told him something else… Like to be prepared for the people not being able to see him, or the other-rather grumpy and antisocial-spirits around (or the other entities who hated winter-related beings, or the other, few, winter spirits who were just too afraid of the other seasonal spirits to come out and talk to a stranger). That was it, not only living people were discarded as possible friends, spirits also were. The only one who seemed to hear him was the wind, the only presence who could actually listen to him and react to his presence.
“What am I doing wrong?” used to asked the snow-boy “…every time I try it’s the same… no-body can see me, let alone hear me…” he looked up to the perpetual-silently moon, like always showing a smile. That stupid smile! It was as if it was just mocking him! “Please! Just this time, would you please answer me?! Tell me! Why did you put me in here?! Why did put me in here? If you don’t want to answer that, it’s okay. Just tell me how I can make them, at least, notice me?!” Jack’s desperation grew faster that night, to the point that his tears started to flow. “…please… I just want a friend… at least one and I won’t bother you… ever again”
Even though, for many years Jack kept that wish, the same question was asked and the same request was made, the answer was never received. Impatience then invaded the, now, un-hoped eternal-teen, only increasing the once ghostly anger, until the imminent fury exploded
“…you know what?! I’m done with this! I’m tired of this silent treatment of yours!” He yelled “Three hundred years is a long time to be alone, and I have grown tired of this! This…! Existence that you gave me!” and so he made something the Man in the Moon feared. “I don’t care what it takes anymore, I’ll do whatever it is that I have to!” and so, pointing his staff in an almost threatening way he vowed “I will make everyone acknowledge me! I don’t care what you say!” Then, he turned around and muttered more to himself than the moon “…as if you would… you never say a single thing! You never answer, you know you’re the only one who can see me, who can hear me, the only one who know I’m tight here, and yet you never say a word… you’re the worst…” As always the moon didn’t spoke, didn’t replied, but seemed that the almost imperceptible laughter that always seemed to come from it stopped, and the smile fainted. “…I don’t need you…” and with that final statement, he walked into the night, leaving behind what would be a terrible blizzard that would blind the moon and the entire town with it.
“...soon everyone will know the name of Jack Frost!”

PART 2: THE SNOW KING
RotGfic_Dreams and Desasters 2: The Snow KingChapter 2: The Snow King
“I don’t need you...soon everyone will know the name of Jack Frost!” And so it started.
That winter came weeks earlier than usual; and so started to spread the word about weird cases of missing children, in which the kids seemed to just vanish in thin air, no clue to follow, no suspects, no witnesses… all of them had disappeared in different circumstances. One was camping in the forest along with his scout’s troop, was sent to get wood on the evening and didn’t make it back; the other had gone to a friend’s house but didn’t even get there; other was just playing on her backyard, one instant she was there and the next she wasn’t. The latest case had been a boy who raced his brother home and stayed behind, the brother disappeared too when he told his mother he would go looking for him. The only common thing was that the disappearances had happened during early morning or late in the afternoon
